Candida is a form of yeast that grows in warm, moist areas of the body like the mouth, belly, or vagina. When it grows in the mouth and throat it is called a thrush infection. It is common among babies, the elderly, denture-wearers, cancer patients, diabetes patients, and those having a weak immune system.
A yeast infection can be cured with simple OTC topical agents, suppositories, or tablets.
The infection should go away within 2 weeks, however in some cases "candida die-off" can occur and cause adverse reactions like fever, chills, muscle ache, weakness, and skin rash.
A candida infection can be cured with simple OTC topical agents, suppositories, or tablets containing miconazole or clotrimazole.
Foods that help fight a candida infection include coconut oil, probiotics, garlic, and curcumin (turmeric). It also advised that patients lower sugar intake for the duration of the infection.
