FAQ's For Rheumatoid Arthritis

Genetics, infection by bacteria or virus, and smoking are the main causes for rheumatoid arthritis

The four stages of RA are early stage, moderate progression, severe progression and terminal progression where joints are fused.

Arthiritis is just an inflammation of one or more joints causing aches and stiffness. Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder affecting the joints as well as damaging the other organs of the body like the skin, eyes, or blood vessels.

Vitamin D is helpful for preventing rheumatoid arthritis.

Foods which are grilled or fried, acidic food items, alcohol, excessive sugar and refined carbohydrates are harmful for people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.

Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory disease causing joint pain and damaging several body parts. This disease is categorized as a chronic inflammatory disorder. If a joint is affected in one of the arms or legs, it is highly probable that the other arm or leg will also get affected. Some common symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis are:
Pain in one or more joints
Joint swelling
Joint stiffness
Weight loss
Fever
Weakness
Fatigue

It causes an immune response wherein the body’s immune system attacks its own healthy cells. The symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis affect joint linings of the body for which rheumatoid arthritis treatment and following the rheumatoid diet become essential.

There are 4 stages of rheumatoid arthritis explained as below:
Early Rheumatoid arthritis:
In the early stages, the patient will only face joint stiffness and hence it can be challenging to diagnose rheumatoid arthritis early. The bones are not yet damaged.
Moderate progression:
Under the 2nd stage, the body makes antibodies and the joints will start to swell. As a part of inflammation, the other organs will also get affected. Inflammation damages cartilage. Range of motion of thejoints becomes limited.
Severe progression:
This stage is more severe, as the effects of disease spreading in the body are more cleary observed. Here, the joints bend or get deformed causing nerve pain.
Terminal progression:
Under this stage, there is abnormal stiffening and joints become immobile or fused. Additionally, one will experience pain and swelling as muscles turn weak, so surgery is often recommended.

Hence, rheumatoid arthritis treatment is essential. It can be treated with medications called disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) to slow or prevent joint damage. It can relieve the pain and improve the movement of joints.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can reduce aches and pains.
Other than medication, commonly recommended surgical procedures include:
Synovectomy: It is a surgery to remove the inflamed joint (synovium) linings, especially in the knees, elbows, fingers or hips.
Tendon repair: Tendons exist around the joint, and they can be repaired by surgery to reduce pain in the joints.
Joint fusion: Fusing a joint brings stability if joint replacement is not recommended.
Joint replacement: Under a replacement procedure, the surgeon removes the damaged part and inserts a prosthetic device which is made of metal or plastic.

HerbsDaily provides a wide range of rheumatoid arthritis supplements and other products to help ease rheumatoid arthritis.
